International students must leave Canada before the expiration date of their study permit unless they have applied for an extension to remain in Canada. 

Stay As a Visitor

If you want to extend your stay in Canada as a visitor (stay in Canada longer), you need to apply for a visitor record before your current status expires.

Pursue Further Studies

You may decide to stay in Canada to further your education by applying for a study permit extension, as long as your school is on the designated learning institution list.

Work In Canada Temporarily

To work in Canada after you graduate, you need a work permit. The work experience you gain while working may help you qualify for permanent residence. Talk to one of our immigration practitioners about your options.

Seek Permanent Residence

Become a Provincial Nominee

Decide where you want to live in Canada and apply to that province or territory for a nomination. After a province or territory nominates you, you must apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence.
